In Odisha, Panchayat elections may be held in January and February next year i.e. 2027 as per the official statement by Madhusudan Padhi, the State Election Commissioner.
Before the elections, the government will do a door-to-door voter check and officials will visit homes to make sure the voter list is correct and updated. This work should be finished before voting starts. However, it may be delayed by one month because of the population census.
The voter survey is separate from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and is meant specifically to ensure accuracy before the local body elections.
Before the Panchayat Elections, booth reorganization may also be carried out wherever needed so that polling stations are located as close as possible to voters’ residences for better convenience.
