Actor turned politician C. Joseph Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has officially filed his nomination from the Perambur constituency for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026. He also released the 234 constituency candidate list on 29th March 2026.

Vijay will also fight from a second seat Trichy East from the Cauvery delta district.

On April 20, 2026, the Madras High Court issued notice to Vijay, the Election Commission of India and the Income Tax Department on a plea alleging discrepancies in his Form 26 affidavits from Perambur and Tiruchi East. The court orally called the claimed over-₹ 100 crore variation an "irregularity" but did not rule on the merits yet. The case will be heard again after the respondents file replies.
